On 21 March 2019, the Popchor Spandau was founded under the direction of Oliver Seidel
Previously, in February 2019, the then new representative for popular music of the Evangelical Church District of Spandau had invited people to a pop CHOIR workshop under the motto "From current charts to gospel - discover the world of pop music with your voice" and brought together almost 50 people who worked on 6 songs in soprano, alto, tenor and bass in one day and finally sang a workshop concert in the Luther Church in Spandau on the evening of the same day.

About us...
The Popchor Spandau is a German choir based in Spandau, Berlin, singing mostly songs from the current charts, pop songs and gospel. After a workshop in February 2019, the choir was founded under the direction of Oliver Seidel and meet once a week for rehearsals in Spandau.
We belong to the Spandau church district and are happy to welcome members of all denominations, genders and nationalities. If you are between 18 and 49 years old, enjoy singing in a group and would like to be part of our choir community, please get in touch with us. As a rule, we invite interested parties twice a year (in spring and in the second half of the year) to introduce themselves. Rehearsals are held in German. You should be able to speak enough German to follow a demanding rehearsal. You will receive information and dates by email.

Oliver Seidel
Oliver Seidel is the representative for popular music in the church district of Spandau. He studied "Popular Music" in Hannover and has since been travelling all over Germany as a choir leader, pianist and composer. Born in Berlin, he has been passionate about choral music since his earliest childhood (including the Berlin State and Cathedral Choirs) and loves to break new ground. He composes for the Christian Singers' Association and is the editor of choral books and CDs.

The events and situation in Ukraine have left us speechless. We want to do something about it. That is why we have produced a new video in order to support the appeal for donations of Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe!
