About us...
Our repertoire ranges from current chart hits to pop, soul, rap, gospel, jazz, worship songs, musical numbers and our own compositions. A choir was formed after a workshop in February 2019, under the direction of Oliver Seidel. The choir, which meets once a week in Berlin-Spandau, consists of around 80 singers. We regularly perform at church services and events, as well as giving our own concerts. Our programme deliberately focuses on variety, incorporating movement, body percussion and solo singing, sometimes accompanied by a band or percussion, and sometimes performed a cappella.
Our choir is a place where diversity, openness and creativity are embraced. We are affiliated with the Spandau church district and extend a warm welcome to members of all denominations, genders and nationalities. If you are passionate about music and want more than just to sing along, then you've come to the right place.
Our choir director, Oliver Seidel, is a composer and trained popular musician who ensures musical quality, creative arrangements, and a positive atmosphere.

Oliver Seidel
Oliver Seidel is the popular music representative in the Spandau church district. He studied popular music in Hanover and has since been working all over Germany as a choir director, pianist, lecturer and composer. Born in Berlin, he has been passionate about choral music since childhood (including the Berlin State Choir and Cathedral Choir) and loves to break new ground. He is a lecturer in the C-Seminar Pop at the Berlin University of the Arts. He is also a member of numerous music committees. These include Soundunit and the Kreiskantorat. As a composer, he writes for Blessings, where he is the editor of choir books and CDs.

You love pop music? Would you like to create inspiring music with others? Then you've come to the right place!
The Popchor Spandau is always looking for new singers between the ages of 18 and 55, especially tenors and basses, but other voice types are welcome too.
We hold auditions twice a year. These are in January and September. We want to meet new voices. But it's not just about your voice; it's also about whether we're a good fit as people.
We rehearse ambitiously and with joy. While previous experience is great, it is not essential. What's important is that you're committed, willing to learn, and open-minded. It would be good to have sufficient German skills. This is because the rehearsals are conducted in German.
